# Evidence for every action an agent took.

Ataris keeps an ordered record of each agent run, with every policy decision next to the action it governed, so you can show what an agent was asked to do and what it actually did.

## How the record is built

1. **Set expectations in a policy.** Rules state which files, binaries, and hosts an agent may use, and what should raise an alert.
2. **Record every run.** Each session is recorded from its first action, from each tool call down to the processes, files, and connections underneath.
3. **Pull the evidence.** Open any session in the dashboard, or page through its stored events with the REST API.

## What compliance teams get

- **Mission and agent on every session.** Each run records which agent ran and what it was asked to do, so the record starts from intent.
- **Decisions next to actions.** Every policy verdict, allowed, blocked, or alert, is recorded against the action it governed.
- **Credential access that stands out.** Resources are marked normal, sensitive, or credential, so every read of a key file or .env shows up in review.
- **Events in the order they happened.** Sequence numbers and microsecond timestamps keep the timeline ordered for review.

## Common questions

### Can we get the record out of Ataris?

Yes. Every session's events can be paged through with the REST API.

### Does a policy prove an agent couldn't do something?

For tool calls, yes: on Pro and above, the CLI refuses a call a rule blocks before it runs, and records the attempt. Activity underneath a tool call raises alerts, so it shows what happened without stopping it.
